Time to differentiate ourselves from Emma Lazarus' "... huddled masses, longing to be free..." (of the 20th Century).

Little Mama is believed to have been born in 1884, although some records say 1892; the youngest daughter of Amelia Reid and John Evans. Her people were referred to as " mixed bloods " and lived along the old Catawba River.

Thought to be my mother's mother, she was actually a grand aunt who raised mother as her own; and had custodial care of my older brother and I, in the mid 1950s.
